Missouri RSMo Chapter 631 provides for involuntary detention of a substance abuser who is dangerous to self or others, starting with a 96-hour hold that any adult may apply for, followed by court-reviewed detention of up to 30 and then 90 days.

Stimulant detoxStimulant programWhat to know about prescription stimulants
Prescription stimulants include amphetamines such as Adderall, Vyvanse and Dexedrine, and methylphenidate products such as Ritalin and Concerta. They are Schedule II controlled substances. Taken as prescribed they help many people with ADHD; misused, they can lead to dependence, sleep problems, anxiety and heart strain.
Treatment for stimulant addiction centers on behavioral approaches, with contingency management having some of the strongest evidence. Learn how stimulant addiction is treated.
What stimulant detox involves
The first week off stimulants is usually the hardest, with fatigue, hunger, poor concentration and low mood, followed by weeks of cravings that come and go. Detox programs keep you safe and comfortable and plan what comes next.

Cost and coverage
The cost of treatment depends mostly on the level of care, how long you stay and your insurance. Residential care costs the most; outpatient therapy the least. Many programs on SAMHSA's directory accept private insurance, and some offer sliding-scale fees. See our insurance guides for details by carrier.
