Who oversees treatment
Indiana's Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA), part of the Family and Social Services Administration, certifies and licenses addiction treatment providers.
Prescription monitoring
INSPECT is Indiana's prescription monitoring database, run by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. It tracks patients' controlled-substance prescriptions, prescribers and dispensing pharmacies.
Overdose Good Samaritan law
Indiana's overdose immunity law protects a person who calls 911 during an overdose, and the person overdosing, from arrest and prosecution for offenses such as drug possession and paraphernalia. It does not affect parole or probation status.
How the state treats gabapentin
Indiana's INSPECT prescription monitoring program tracks controlled substances, and for INSPECT purposes the state counts gabapentin within that term (with reference to IC 35-48-1-9). Pharmacies therefore report gabapentin prescriptions they dispense to INSPECT.

Ambien (zolpidem), Lunesta (eszopiclone) and Sonata (zaleplon) are prescription sleep medications often called z-drugs. They are Schedule IV controlled substances. The FDA requires a boxed warning about complex sleep behaviors, such as sleep-walking and sleep-driving, which can cause serious injuries.
Long-term or high-dose use can lead to tolerance and dependence. Stopping suddenly can cause rebound insomnia and anxiety, so a gradual, supervised taper is safest. Read our Ambien addiction guide.
What medically managed detox involves
Hospital-based and medically managed detox programs can watch vital signs, adjust a taper and respond quickly if withdrawal becomes severe. That level of care matters most for people who have taken high doses for a long time or who also use alcohol, opioids or benzodiazepines.
Ask detox programs near Indiana how long a typical stay lasts and what follow-up they arrange.

Using your insurance
Before you call a program, have your insurance card ready and ask three things: is the program in network, does the level of care need prior authorization, and what will you owe after the deductible. Plans regulated by federal parity law cannot set stricter limits on addiction care than on comparable medical care. Our insurance guides walk through major carriers.
