Who oversees treatment
The Behavioral Health Division of the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services licenses all substance abuse treatment programs in the state under Century Code chapter 50-31.
Prescription monitoring
The North Dakota Prescription Drug Monitoring Program is run by the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy. It is a secure online database of Schedule II-V controlled substances and drugs of concern that authorized prescribers and pharmacists use.
Overdose Good Samaritan law
North Dakota Century Code section 19-03.1-23.4, titled Overdose prevention and immunity, provides immunity tied to calling for help in an overdose, and state policy review describes it as covering people who call 911 for themselves or another person.
Court-ordered treatment
North Dakota's commitment chapter, Century Code 25-03.1, covers an individual with a substance use disorder who, without treatment, poses a serious risk of harm. A petition goes through the state's attorney and a court hearing, and non-hospital treatment orders can run up to 90 days.
How the state treats gabapentin
North Dakota's prescription drug monitoring program law (N.D.C.C. 19-03.5-01) counts nonscheduled products containing gabapentin as controlled substances for PDMP purposes, so gabapentin dispensing must be reported to the state PDMP even though it is not placed on a drug schedule.

Adderall is a prescription stimulant that combines amphetamine salts. It is approved for ADHD and narcolepsy and is a Schedule II controlled substance because it can be misused and lead to dependence. Misuse includes taking higher doses than prescribed, taking someone else's pills, or crushing and snorting them.
There is no FDA-approved medication for stimulant use disorder, so treatment relies on behavioral therapies such as contingency management and cognitive behavioral therapy. Read our Adderall addiction guide for signs and treatment options.
What Adderall rehab looks like
Adderall rehab focuses on changing patterns of use rather than replacing the drug with a medication. Days in residential care combine individual therapy, groups, exercise, regular sleep and meals, which help the brain recover after heavy stimulant use. Outpatient programs deliver the same therapies while you live at home.
A good program also checks for ADHD, depression and anxiety, and works with a prescriber on how to manage ADHD symptoms safely after treatment near North Dakota.

Using your insurance
Before you call a program, have your insurance card ready and ask three things: is the program in network, does the level of care need prior authorization, and what will you owe after the deductible. Plans regulated by federal parity law cannot set stricter limits on addiction care than on comparable medical care. Our insurance guides walk through major carriers.
