Who oversees treatment
AHCCCS, Arizona's Medicaid agency, is the Single State Agency for substance abuse treatment. The Arizona Department of Health Services licenses behavioral health residential facilities that provide substance use treatment.
Prescription monitoring
The Arizona State Board of Pharmacy runs the Arizona Prescription Monitoring Program, a statewide database of dispensed Schedule II through V controlled substances that licensed prescribers and pharmacists can check.
Public coverage for treatment
Arizona's Medicaid program is run by AHCCCS (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System). AHCCCS lists medication-assisted treatment, residential treatment, counseling and case management among its substance use treatment services.
Overdose Good Samaritan law
Arizona has a drug overdose Good Samaritan law that gives immunity from prosecution for drug possession to people who, in good faith, seek medical help for themselves or someone else during an overdose, such as by calling 911 or contacting law enforcement, poison control or an emergency department. A later bill removed the repeal date and made the protections permanent.
Court-ordered treatment
Arizona's court-ordered evaluation and treatment process under Title 36 requires a mental disorder meeting criteria like danger to self or others, and AHCCCS states it is not meant to treat substance use disorders alone. A person with a substance use disorder qualifies only if the behavior stems from a separate qualifying mental disorder.

Adderall misuse often starts as a way to study, work longer hours or lose weight. Over time, tolerance builds, and stopping can bring a crash of fatigue, low mood and strong cravings.
Withdrawal from Adderall is not usually physically dangerous, but the depression that can follow is real, so support matters. If you have thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988. See signs of Adderall addiction.
What Adderall detox involves
Detox from Adderall is mostly about supportive care: sleep, food, hydration, and someone watching for worsening depression or suicidal thoughts. There is no medication that reverses stimulant withdrawal, but doctors can treat sleep problems and mood symptoms.
Residential detox removes easy access to stimulants during the hardest stretch of cravings.

Paying for treatment
Most private health insurance plans cover addiction treatment, including detox, residential care and outpatient programs, though what is covered depends on your plan and whether the program is in network. Many programs also offer sliding-scale fees or take self-pay. Ask about prior authorization before you go, and see our insurance guides.
